Letter of Appreciation from Journalists Association of Korea
We would like to express our gratitude to all those who attended the ‘World Journalists Conference 2020’ held online due to COVID-19.
We were greatly pleased to see familiar faces, albeit via video conference, of those who previously visited South Korea from as recently as last year to as far back as 2013, when the Conference first began. Although we met through a video channel, the passion you showed at the Conference as journalists were not any different from when we met to converse in person.
We would also like to thank you for making the Conference a success through your earnest and constructive presentations, opinions, and suggestions on each of the topic.
The Journalists Association of Korea is now working on documenting and organizing the results of this year’s Conference, in order to make future events more fruitful. To this end, we would like to provide and request some information from the participants of this year’s Conference, so please send us a reply by September 30th.
We indicated to the speakerss that we would be providing a small amount of honorarium for your manuscripts and presentations when we invited you to the World Journalists Conference. Please provide the bank name and account number to which you would like to receive the honorarium. (A copy of a bankbook in your own name is required.)
The Journalists Association of Korea wishes to share the details of our Conference with the citizens of your countries and jointly respond to the issues discussed during this year’s Conference, in order to eradicate fake news that are spreading across borders and quickly bring COVID-19 to an end. Accordingly, we would like to ask you for an article on this year’s Conference, as well as a publicity article on our co-hosts of this year’s Conference – Gyeong-gi Province and Suwon City – for which we have hereby attached relevant press releases. The articles you send us will be preserved as valuable materials of our white papers, which are published every year. (We would appreciate it if you could send us at least 1 article on the Conference and 1 article for publicity.)
Launched in 2013, the World Journalists Conference has been playing a positive role by inviting annually journalists worldwide to discuss media issues, as well as peace in the Korean Peninsula and the world, the role of journalists, etc. We are currently conducting a conference satisfaction questionnaire to make up for the shortcomings of this year and prepare more efficiently in the future. It would help us greatly if you could take a brief moment out of your busy schedules to complete and send us the attached questionnaire.
If you have any comments about things you felt or were not able to share while participating in the Conference, please write and submit them in one page or less of A4. We seek to reflect your comments in future events and provide a small gift to those who send us meaningful feedback. Comments will only be accepted until September 30th.
Please refer to the below links of the English articles reported in Korea and the official website of the Journalists Association of Korea. Individual photos of the participants will be sent to you after the files are organized.
Once again, we would like to thank all those who attended this year’s World Journalists Conference to share constructive ideas and discuss passionately on various issues. We hope that COVID-19 will soon come to an end so that we can meet again in person and wish you good health until we meet again.
Thank you.
